Job Description: Sheet Metal Design Technician / Draughtsman

Reporting to: Product Development Manager
Role Purpose
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Sheet Metal Design Technician / Draughtsman to join our Product Development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transforming concepts into high-quality 3D models and manufacturing drawings, ensuring precision and functionality in all sheet metal assemblies.
Main Responsibilities
- 3D Assembly Design: Execute comprehensive 3D designs of complex sheet metal assemblies using SOLIDWORKS.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare highly detailed and accurate manufacturing drawings ready for production.
- Product Innovation: Contribute to the development of new products and assist in the conceptualization phase of design projects.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a technical point of contact, liaising effectively with both internal departments and external clients to ensure project alignment.
- Progress Reporting: Maintain regular communication and reporting regarding project milestones to the Product Development Manager.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Education: Minimum Grade 12 (Matric) with a formal SOLIDWORKS qualification.
- Experience: Proven experience using SOLIDWORKS specifically within a sheet metal manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in sheet metal design principles (bends, K-factors, flat patterns).
- Programming experience (e.g., CNC or CAM software) is considered a distinct advantage but is not a prerequisite.
- Soft Skills:
- Lateral Thinking: A creative problem-solver capable of approaching technical challenges from unique angles.
- Collaboration: A dedicated team player with a "teachable spirit" and a commitment to continuous learning and growth.
Experience:
- SolidWorks: 1 year (Required)
