Senior Tax Compliance officer (Pipeline)

Job Description

Role purpose:

To manage and deliver the full tax compliance function for a portfolio of Forvis Mazars clients, ensuring accurate, timely and high-quality service in line with applicable tax legislation and internal standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Gather and collate tax-related information from clients and third parties to prepare and submit a range of tax returns, including:
• Individual, trust and corporate income tax returns
• Provisional tax returns
• Responses to verification queries and supporting correspondence
• DTR01 and DTR02 submissions
• VAT and PAYE client support when required
• Prepare and review tax computations
• Perform reconciliations of tax assessments
• Manage tax-related queries, objections and appeals
• Apply for tax clearance certificates, including Good Standing, Tender and Foreign Investment applications
• Liaise with SARS at branch and call centre level to resolve client matters efficiently
• Maintain quality control over tax returns and related submissions

Minimum Requirements

Candidate requirements:

• Grade 12
• BCom Accounting
• A tax or other relevant qualification, completed or currently in progress, with a reasonable expectation of completion
• Registered tax practitioner will be advantageous
• A minimum of 5 years’ relevant tax compliance experience
• Strong working knowledge of SARS eFiling
• Sound knowledge and practical application of relevant tax laws and regulations
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills
• Ability to remain focused and productive in a high-pressure environment
• Deadline-driven and able to work with minimal supervision
• Strong planning, prioritisation and organisational skills, with the ability to manage an average portfolio of 250 clients

• High level of integrity and professionalism
• Accounting knowledge will be advantageous
• Knowledge of GreatSoft and ProfTax will be advantageous
