Urgent need for a Senior Project Manager on 1 year contract in DRC
Reporting to the Head of Projects, the Senior Project Manager provides end-to-end ownership of a portfolio of complex, capital-intensive project-driving delivery to scope, schedule, budget, quality, and SHEQ standards while aligning outcomes to business objectives:
- Portfolio & Strategy: Define delivery strategies, governance, and controls that enable effective tracking and execution of project portfolios.
- Execution & Delivery: Lead programs and projects to completion on time and within budget, applying rigorous planning, scheduling, and change control.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with engineering, operations, supply chain, commercial, finance, and legal teams to anticipate and resolve delivery challenges.
- Partner & Vendor Management: Engage and manage contractors and external partners; remove roadblocks and drive accountability for outcomes.
- Lifecycle Management: Oversee full lifecycle activities—requirements/specifications, material readiness, approvals/permits, site handover, and performance monitoring.
- Stakeholder Communication: Establish and run an effective communications plan; provide clear, timely updates on status, risks, opportunities, and mitigations to all stakeholders and steering bodies.
- Resource & Cost Control: Plan and manage materials, labor, and subcontractors; optimize resource utilization and cost performance.
- Data & Reporting: Ensure all project databases, templates, dashboards, and reports are accurate, complete, and delivered on time in line with company standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Conduct structured reviews and post-implementation learnings with Group PM teams to elevate standards, processes, quality, and safety.
- SHEQ Leadership: Champion compliance with Helios Towers’ SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) policies and campaigns; ensure contractor adherence.
- Daily Progressing: Produce precise, on-time daily progress reports across the managed portfolio.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Project Management.
- 10+ years’ relevant experience, leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects (e.g., energy, civil, oil & gas) or major capital programs.
- Recognized project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
- Demonstrated track record delivering complex projects to plan, with disciplined planning, monitoring, execution, and quality control.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills; able to translate issues into pragmatic solutions.
- Business acumen with the ability to synthesize and mobilize strategic information for the organization.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and the MS Office suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
