Senior Manager: Procurement
Job Purpose
The Senior Manager: Procurement is responsible for leading and managing the procurement function to ensure cost-effective purchasing, supplier performance, contract compliance, and strategic sourcing across the organisation. The role focuses on developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, reducing costs, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Lead sourcing initiatives and supplier negotiations to achieve cost savings and operational efficiencies.
- Manage procurement budgets and monitor expenditure trends.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within procurement processes.
- Ensure procurement activities support business growth and operational requirements.
Supplier & Contract Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers and service providers.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, service level agreements, and payment terms.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Conduct supplier performance evaluations and audits.
- Resolve supplier disputes and escalations effectively.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, governance standards, and relevant legislation.
- Monitor procurement risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure ethical procurement practices and transparency.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and reporting systems.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop procurement staff.
- Set departmental KPIs and performance targets.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching to team members.
- Foster a high-performance and collaborative work culture.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand procurement needs.
- Provide procurement guidance and support to management teams.
- Prepare procurement reports and present insights to senior leadership.
- Support strategic business projects and operational initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 7–10 years’ procurement experience, with at least 4–6 years in a senior management role.
- Strong knowledge of procurement systems, sourcing strategies, and contract management.
- Experience managing large supplier portfolios and procurement budgets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Sage, etc.).
