PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To manage the efficiency and effectiveness of operations through continuous improvements, maintaining best practice and liaison with plant personnel and management.

Minimum Qualifications And Requirements

  • Grade 12 NQF Level 4 Certificate is essential.
  • B.Sc. or B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering or Extractive Metallurgy
  • Or
  • B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering or Extractive Metallurgy is essential
  • At least 5-10 years of metallurgical PGM and other plant experience is essential.
  • Commercial Experience is desirable.
  • The ideal candidate will have either proven concentrating experience (Knowledge of treating both Merensky and UG2 ores will be an advantage), including
  • Milling and floatation circuits,
  • Tailings management and re-mining practices.

Key Performance Areas

  • Assist in creating a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Ensure that environmental control measures are in place to meet Impala and Government standards.
  • Support operational teams in achieving production targets according to plan
  • Manage and assist with capital projects.
  • Manage cost within area of responsibility.
  • Plan initiatives and monitor critical process related maintenance and plant upgrading.
  • Improve plant efficiency.
  • Investigate and Interpret plant data and devise appropriate initiatives.
  • Assist with the execution of R&D projects
  • Implement the necessary change management programmes.
  • Investigate and implement systems to improve efficiencies.
  • Support the management of the plant and plant activities.
  • Coach and mentor subordinates
  • Develop and enhance metallurgical training programmes.
  • Manage and improve plant technology and best practise investigations through R&D and inter-departmental collaboration.
