SUMMARY:
POSITION INFO:
We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Maintenance Manager for a leading plastics industry client based in Cape Town. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving a high-performing maintenance function within a fast-paced, high-volume production environment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring smooth, efficient, and reliable plant operations that directly support production excellence and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies
- Drive equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage CMMS systems, maintenance planning, and asset control
- Ensure high equipment uptime and support overall plant OEE
- Oversee facilities, utilities, contractors, and shutdown planning
- Ensure compliance with the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations (GMR 2.1)
- Lead machinery risk assessments, safety compliance, and statutory inspections
- Manage maintenance budgets, CAPEX projects, and spare parts inventory
- Develop and lead multidisciplinary maintenance teams
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, H&S, and Supply Chain teams
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12
- National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field
- Trade Test (Millwright / Electrician / Instrumentation) advantageous
- 7–10 years’ industrial maintenance experience within manufacturing
- Minimum 3–5 years in a maintenance leadership role
- Strong experience with CMMS, TPM, RCM, FMEA, and reliability engineering
- Proven experience improving plant availability and reducing breakdowns
- Strong knowledge of machinery safety, utilities, and statutory compliance
- Experience within plastics or packaging manufacturing preferred
