SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:

We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Maintenance Manager for a leading plastics industry client based in Cape Town. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving a high-performing maintenance function within a fast-paced, high-volume production environment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring smooth, efficient, and reliable plant operations that directly support production excellence and business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies
  • Drive equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage CMMS systems, maintenance planning, and asset control
  • Ensure high equipment uptime and support overall plant OEE
  • Oversee facilities, utilities, contractors, and shutdown planning
  • Ensure compliance with the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations (GMR 2.1)
  • Lead machinery risk assessments, safety compliance, and statutory inspections
  • Manage maintenance budgets, CAPEX projects, and spare parts inventory
  • Develop and lead multidisciplinary maintenance teams
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, H&S, and Supply Chain teams

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field
  • Trade Test (Millwright / Electrician / Instrumentation) advantageous
  • 7–10 years’ industrial maintenance experience within manufacturing
  • Minimum 3–5 years in a maintenance leadership role
  • Strong experience with CMMS, TPM, RCM, FMEA, and reliability engineering
  • Proven experience improving plant availability and reducing breakdowns
  • Strong knowledge of machinery safety, utilities, and statutory compliance
  • Experience within plastics or packaging manufacturing preferred
