Role Description The Senior Data Analyst is a full-time, on-site role based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This role is responsible for collecting, cleaning, and transforming data from various internal systems to produce accurate reports and dashboards that support strategic and operational decision-making. The Senior Data Analyst will perform in-depth analyses of portfolio performance, customer behavior, and risk metrics, and will present insights and recommendations to management and cross-functional teams. Daily tasks include building and maintaining data models, monitoring key performance indicators, designing and running experiments or A/B tests, and collaborating with stakeholders to define metrics and reporting requirements. The role also involves mentoring junior analysts, improving data quality and processes, and contributing to the development of data-driven products and credit strategies.
Qualifications
- Strong Analytical Skills and proven experience using Data Analytics tools and techniques to generate actionable business insights.
- Solid understanding of Statistics, including hypothesis testing, regression, and basic experimental design for business problem-solving.
- 3-5 years of experience in data analyst
- Hands-on experience with Data Modeling, data warehousing concepts, and working with relational databases (e.g., SQL-based systems).
- Effective Communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analyses into clear, concise presentations and reports for non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in analytical and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar) and comfort working with large datasets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field; advanced degree is an advantage.
- Experience in financial services, microfinance, or FinTech is highly desirable, especially within credit risk or portfolio analytics.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and a collaborative mindset for working with cross-functional teams on-site.
