Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for Semi Skilled Mechanical Fitters based in Secunda. The role involves assisting with the installation, alignment, and fitting of mechanical components and machinery under the guidance of senior fitters or supervisors. Day-to-day tasks include performing routine maintenance, supporting preventive maintenance activities, and helping to detect and report mechanical faults. The Semi Skilled Mechanical Fitters will use hand tools and basic machining equipment, follow technical instructions and safety procedures, and collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure equipment reliability. The role requires adherence to site safety standards, accurate recordkeeping of work performed, and readiness to support shutdowns, repairs, and general mechanical tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess skills in fitting and working with mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Candidates should possess skills in machinery operation and basic understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Candidates should possess skills in machining, including the safe use of basic machine tools where required.
  • Candidates should possess skills in maintenance and preventive maintenance to support equipment reliability.
  • Relevant technical or trade-related training or certification in mechanical fitting or a similar field is beneficial.
  • Experience working in industrial, plant, or workshop and Chemical environments, preferably within a maintenance team, is advantageous.
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions and safety procedures, with strong attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in varying site conditions.
