Secondment Engineers to Projects Department

DCM Projects Department is responsible for planning and executing capital projects on the mine in line with approved Business Plan and to meet arising critical business requirements which may arise post the Business Plan window.

The departmental function requires, among other resources, project managers with engineering training to analyse the business opportunities or challenges from operations and conceptualise optimum solutions. The solutions need to take into consideration several factors including technical fit-for-purpose, constructability, operability, quality, safety, cost, time, legal and environmental compliance.

This function requires individuals who are technically inclined, self-driven and capable of facilitating and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders with competing needs and requirements to attain multi-disciplinary engineering solutions.

DCM currently has three (3) Project Managers and needs to execute over 180 projects during the FY27. This target requires an optimal structure with a minimum of six (6) project managers.

While procurement is underway to source additional resources, there is a need to keep active projects running and to initiate new critical projects. It is therefore requested from Operations teams (Engineering, Mining and Process Plant) to second qualified Engineers to assist the Project Department with the active and critical projects while additional resources are being sourced. Upon completion of the sourcing and onboarding of the project managers, the seconded engineers will hand over the projects and return to their current roles.

The seconded engineers will work under close guidance of the Senior Project Manager and will service their respective Operational Departments where they are familiar with technical processes and dynamics.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Engineering Diploma/Degree (B.Eng./ BSc.) in the fields of Mechanical; Electrical; Mining or Metallurgy.

CRITERIA:

• Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings.

• Must have a minimum of 12 months’ service at DCM.

• Must have a thorough understanding of technical processes and pinch points in their respective areas.

• Must have an appreciation of ongoing projects within their areas of responsibility.

• Must be able to coordinate activities across multi‑disciplinary Engineering functions.

• Must be able to coordinate and communicate effectively with Operations, Engineering and Procurement Departments at management level.

• Preferably have access to a DCM computer.

• Preferably be flexible and willing to work extended hours when operationally required.
