SEA FREIGHT CONTROLLER PORT ELIZABETH

KEY PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Scan Global Logistics South Africa Pty (Ltd) is seeking to employ a Sea freight Controller. The successful incumbent will be responsible for Operations in our Port Elizabeth branch.

The position reports directly to the Branch Manager and is based in Circular Drive, Port Elizabeth.

The ideal commencement date is 01 August 2026

Experience and Qualifications

The ideal applicant must have a demonstrated track record in the same or a similar role for a minimum of 8 years, including experience within the freight industry.

Main Duties

The successful incumbent will in the main be responsible for:

  • Creates and confirms transport order to ensure pickup/delivery of the shipment at origin/destination.
  • Performs booking and booking optimization according to internal guidelines as defined by Product
  • Prepares, controls and distributes all required Export and Import documents to counterparts (carrier, consignee, supplier, etc.) complying with regulations and internal procedures
  • Checks responses from counterparts and finalizes validation of required documents
  • Follows-up shipment status in the Export and Import area identifies incidents and ensures resolution of incidents.
  • Communicate with customers.
  • Maintain excellent relationship with customers
  • Maintains excellent relationships with suppliers, is responsible for identifying performance issues of suppliers and proposes solutions to improve/correct performance.
  • Performs IT systems related tasks to provide up to date information on shipment
  • Creating dossiers in our IT system:
  • Allocate to the file group with the correct information so that data quality is up to requested standards.
  • Adding all charges for all related parties – buying and selling.
  • Evaluate profitability and if needed take the necessary actions to improve or escalate to supervisor.
