SUMMARY:
POSITION INFO:
Job title: Safety Officer
Location: On-site at Mine (North-west province , 30 mins from Sun city, 60 mins from Rustenburg)
Salary: R35 000-40 000/month, dependent on experience and qualifications
Vacancy type: Full-time
Duties:
- Implement and monitor the mine’s Safety, Health, Environment, and Community (SHEC) management plan
- Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and incident investigations
- Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and environmental legislation
- Maintain and update SHEC registers, incident logs, and safety statistics
- Facilitate toolbox talks, safety inductions, and training sessions for employees and contractors
- Liaise with the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) and community representatives
- Promote environmental best practices and drive community engagement initiatives
Requirements:
- National Diploma or Certificate in Safety Management, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Must have experience in the mining operations
- Minimum 10+years’ experience of relevant experience
- Solid knowledge of MHSA, environmental, and occupational health & safety regulations
- SAMTRAC, COMTRAC is required in SHEC roles (preferably in mining or industrial environments
- Preferably currently holding a legal appointment in the present company
- Must be willing to reside or relocate near the mine site
