Our client, a leading engineering and infrastructure contractor, is looking for an experienced Safety Officer to join their site operations team in Tsumeb.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive HSE professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment and is passionate about driving a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company procedures, and client requirements.
- Conduct daily site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Investigate incidents and manage reporting through to close-out.
- Maintain Health & Safety documentation, registers, and records.
- Deliver toolbox talks and promote safety awareness across site.
- Monitor corrective actions and ensure findings are closed out.
- Support the Site Manager with Health & Safety compliance.
- Ensure PPE and safety equipment are properly managed.
- Liaise with employees, supervisors, and management on HSE matters.
- Assist with emergency preparedness activities and site administration.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Diploma or Certificate in Health & Safety Management.
- Minimum 4 years' experience as a Safety Officer within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction Health & Safety legislation and standards.
- Experience conducting site inspections, audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
- Good administrative and reporting skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.

- EPC projects
- Powerline, transmission, substation or renewable energy projects
- Large construction or mining contractor environments
