Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Safety Manager at Franschhoek Wine Tram. The Safety Officer will oversee compliance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation, manage physical security measures, and ensure safe operational practices across all departments. The role is responsible for safeguarding passengers, employees, contractors, company assets, and infrastructure, while fostering a strong culture of safety awareness and accountability.
Qualifications
- Implementing and maintaining Occupational Health & Safety systems and procedures
- Conducting regular risk assessments across transport operations, ticket offices, retail areas, and operational sites
- Identifying hazards and implementing corrective and preventative measures
- Monitoring compliance with safety legislation and company policies
- Investigating incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and compiling detailed reports with corrective action plans
- Overseeing site security protocols and access control measures
- Coordinating emergency preparedness plans and response procedures
- Conducting safety training and toolbox talks for staff
- Ensuring proper record keeping and safety documentation
- Liaising with management and regulatory authorities where required
- Promoting a proactive safety culture across all departments
Requirements
- Willing to relocate and/or commute to the business location
- Own a reliable vehicle
- Hold a valid driving licence
- Able to respond to safety and security situations
