Your job is to diagnose the problem accurately, recommend the right fix, complete quality work, and leave every customer with confidence in the result. OBJECTIVES

  • Diagnose garage door and opener issues accurately through careful inspection, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Repair and replace worn or failed components, including springs, cables, rollers, tracks, panels, hinges, sensors, and openers
  • Ensure every completed job meets company standards for safety, reliability, function, and appearance
  • Educate homeowners clearly and honestly about the condition of their garage door system, available repair or replacement options, and recommended maintenance
  • Present and enroll homeowners in the Grunt Guard Security Plan when it benefits the customer
  • Provide a professional, calm, and respectful customer experience on every call
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and well-stocked service vehicle, including proper care of tools, parts, and company equipment
  • Complete service documentation, invoices, photos, estimates, and customer notes accurately and on time through HouseCall Pro
  • Follow all company procedures, safety standards, and manufacturer specifications while working in residential environments
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, extend equipment life, and recommend appropriate upgrades when beneficial to the homeowner
  • Collaborate with dispatch, leadership, and teammates to support scheduling efficiency, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement

COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to accurately diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and determine the correct repair approach
  • Comfort working with openers, sensors, wall controls, remotes, and basic low-voltage wiring
  • Strong focus on accuracy, safety, alignment, balance, tension, and clean final presentation
  • Ability to explain technical issues in a clear, patient, and trustworthy way without pressuring the customer
  • Consistently arrives prepared, completes work as promised, and communicates clearly when circumstances change
  • Understands and respects the risks associated with springs, cables, heavy doors, tools, ladders, and moving mechanical systems
  • Able to lift and move heavy materials, work in varied positions, and perform hands-on service work throughout the day
  • Maintains a clean appearance, organized workspace, honest recommendations, and respect for the customer’s home
  • Ability to record job details, parts used, recommendations, estimates, and customer approvals clearly and accurately
  • Works well with dispatch, managers, and other technicians by sharing updates, asking questions, and supporting company standards

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required
  • 3+ years of dedicated residential garage door service experience required
  • Comfortable presenting repair options and earning the customer’s decision in the home
  • Commercial garage door and dock experience helpful but not required
  • Applicants must be centrally located or located in the West Valley
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, talk, hear, climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Willingness to be on rotational on-call coverage
  • Ability to work overtime including occasional weekends
  • Requires ability to occasionally lift up to 75 lbs
  • Position requires daily travel to and from residential field sites throughout the West Valley

COMPENSATION

  • Guaranteed weekly pay floor on every scheduled week of work
  • Weekly and monthly performance bonuses included as part of the company compensation plan
  • Structured onboarding compensation during your first two weeks
  • Realistic first-year earnings of $75,000–$120,000+ for experienced technicians, with no cap on commissions
