SUMMARY:
A leading agricultural company is seeking an experienced R&D Manager to lead innovation in fertilizer development and crop nutrition. This is a hands-on leadership role, taking products from concept to commercialization while managing a high-performing R&D team.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of innovative fertilizer products
- Drive research initiatives across lab, greenhouse, and field trials
- Improve product performance and crop yield outcomes
- Define and execute the R&D roadmap aligned to market needs
- Manage projects, budgets, and timelines
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners
- Mentor and develop a strong technical team
Key Qualifications & Requirements
- Master’s Degree in a field of Biotechnology (Biochemistry, Microbiology, Plant Physiology, Chemistry) or Traditional Agronomy
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Agriculture Industry
- 5+ years of experience leading teams
- Fluent in Afrikaans/English would be advantageous
Required Behavioral Competencies
- Strong technical background in Agronomy, Soil Science, Chemistry, or Biotechnology
- Proven R&D experience in fertilizers, crop nutrition, or Agri-inputs
- Track record of taking products from concept to commercialization
- Experience delivering measurable improvements in product efficacy or development timelines
- Leadership experience managing R&D teams
- Hands-on approach with both science and strategy
