Recruitment for Regional Commercial Manager Jobs in Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria at BrighterMonday Uganda
Title: Recruitment for Regional Commercial Manager
Company: BrighterMonday Uganda
Location: Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria
About the Role
The Regional Commercial Manager – Phones, WCA is a commercial leadership role responsible for driving device sales growth, revenue performance, and market expansion across West and Central Africa. This role sits at the intersection of sales, partnerships, product, supply chain, and marketing – serving as the primary commercial owner for PayGo smartphone business in the region. The ideal candidate is a commercially driven, analytically sharp, and highly collaborative leader with deep experience in the mobile devices ecosystem across sub-Saharan Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
● Own regional commercial targets — jointly with the sales team
This role shares revenue and unit sales targets with the field sales team across West and Central Africa. The sales team, which reports into its own sales leadership hierarchy, owns day-to-day execution on the ground. The commercial manager's job is to create the conditions for that team to succeed — ensuring they have the right products, the right pricing, the right channel coverage, and the right marketing support to hit shared goals.
● Track performance and drive course correction
Monitor revenue performance across markets in close coordination with the sales team. Where performance is off-track, this role diagnoses the root cause — whether commercial, operational, or market-driven — and works with the relevant teams to respond.
● Build and manage OEM and distributor partnerships
Partners with phone brands (OEMs) and local distributors to stock and sell devices. This role manages those partnerships, negotiates terms, and
ensures the right phones are available in the right places at the right time.
● Develop and commercialise telecom partnerships across the region
Mobile network operators have distribution networks, marketing channels, and customer relationships that took years to build. This role is responsible for identifying the right MNO partners in each market, understanding the full breadth of what a partnership could unlock, and structuring deals that translate that potential into tangible commercial outcomes — with the nature of each partnership varying by market and operator.
● Manage product availability and lifecycle transitions
Getting the right phones into the right markets at the right time is a critical commercial lever. This role works closely with supply chain to maintain forecast accuracy, ensure stock availability, and plan new model launches — while managing the phase-out of older models carefully enough to avoid dead stock
● Drive regional marketing and go-to-market execution
Translating a commercial plan into market-level impact requires more than a good product and a willing sales team. This role works closely with marketing to ensure promotional campaigns, digital advertising, in-store merchandising, and go-to-market plans are localised, well-executed, and pulling in the same direction — converting awareness into sales across every touchpoint in the region.
● Champion an effective after-sales experience for customers
In a PAYGo model, the relationship with the customer doesn't end at the point of sale — it spans the entire repayment period. This role works closely with the after-sales team to ensure policies, processes, and service standards are fair to the customer and commercially sound, advocating for improvements where gaps exist and holding partners accountable to agreed service levels.
Requirements
Experience:
● 10+ years in a commercial, sales, or business development role within consumer electronics, mobile devices, telecoms, or a similarly fast-moving consumer industry
● Proven track record of delivering against revenue and unit sales targets in a structure where execution is shared with a separate sales team
● Experience managing OEM, distributor, and/or telecom partnerships — including negotiating commercial terms and managing performance over time
● Demonstrated ability to operate across multiple markets in West and Central Africa, navigating different regulatory environments, trade dynamics, and consumer behaviours
● Experience working cross-functionally — particularly bridging sales, marketing, supply chain, and product teams around a shared commercial plan
● Familiarity with device financing, PAYGo, or other consumer credit models is a strong advantage
● Proficiency in French is highly advantageous given the markets in scope
Skills:
● Analytical thinking: identifying what is driving or undermining performance, and acting on it
● Go-to-market execution: understands how to localise a commercial plan — pricing, promotions, merchandising, and channel activation — for diverse markets
● Partner management: able to build and sustain productive relationships with OEMs, distributors, and MNOs — and structure deals that deliver on paper and in the market
● Cross-functional coordination: effective at aligning teams that don't report into this role, and resolving upstream blockers that the sales team cannot solve themselves
● Communication: able to present commercial performance and market insight clearly to senior stakeholders, and translate strategic direction into plans that field teams can execute
