Join our Onyx Hotel team in Cape Town as a Receptionist in the Front Office department, where your exceptional customer service skills and attention to detail will ensure a welcoming and efficient guest experience. As a key front desk professional, you will manage guest information using Opera PMS, coordinate room allocations with Housekeeping, and maintain compliance with credit and billing policies. This permanent role requires fluency in English, strong communication, teamwork, and reliability. You will assist Duty Managers with front desk operations, handle group arrivals, and perform administrative tasks during shifts including weekends and public holidays. Minimum Requirements
- Minimum education level of Grade 12 or National Certificate
- Proficient in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Previous experience in a receptionist or front office role within the hospitality industry preferred
- Basic knowledge of Opera PMS or similar property management systems
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage guest information and front desk operations efficiently
- Strong interpersonal skills to provide professional and courteous guest service
- Ability to work shifts including weekends and public holidays
- Reliable, punctual, and capable of working professionally in a team environment
- Attention to detail in completing registration forms, reconciling reports, and adhering to company policies
- Well-groomed appearance and professional demeanor at all times
Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome guests promptly and courteously upon arrival at the front desk.
- Manage guest check-in and check-out processes efficiently using Opera PMS
- Handle room reservations, cancellations, and changes in coordination with the Housekeeping department.
- Maintain accurate guest records and ensure compliance with registration procedures and company policies.
- Provide clear information on hotel services, amenities, and local attractions to enhance guest experience.
- Coordinate with porters and other staff to ensure smooth guest arrivals, departures, and luggage handling.
- Assist Duty Managers with front desk operations and administrative tasks during shifts, including handling group arrivals.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest inquiries, complaints, and requests, ensuring high service standards.
- Prepare and reconcile daily front office reports, credit, and billing documentation meticulously.
- Work efficiently as part of a team, maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor while adhering to shift schedules, including weekends and public holidays.
