About the Role

Are you detail-orientated, organised, and passionate about getting things right the first time? We are looking for a responsible Receiving Clerk to join our Receiving and Stockholding team within our Fresh Produce (Fruit & Veg) operation.

As the first line of defence in our supply chain, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate receipt and inspection of goods, supporting effective inventory management and seamless operational continuity. This position is essential for maintaining inventory integrity and ensuring smooth operations from procurement through to storage and production.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Unload goods from delivery vehicles and follow standard receiving procedures.
  • Inspect incoming goods for damage, quality, and discrepancies against purchase orders.
  • Approve delivery notes after cross-checking against purchase orders and invoices.
  • Maintain accurate records of received stock, including weighing items and printing shipping labels.
  • Organise and store received items in designated storage areas.
  • Liaise effectively with the Procurement team regarding purchased stock and agreed pricing.
  • Compile manual ordering sheets when required.
  • Identify article codes on location sheets.
  • Manage Cultivars and Farmer Codes to ensure correct stock allocation.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.
  • Complete daily check sheets accurately and timeously.
  • Issue stock to the Production team as required.
  • Utilise computer systems for accurate stock control and documentation.
  • Apply knowledge of food safety standards and regulatory requirements (Prokon system).

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12) certificate.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a packaging or stock control environment, preferably within the Fresh Produce industry.
  • Sound working knowledge of Fresh Produce (Fruit & Vegetables), including the ability to identify varieties, assess quality and freshness, and understand handling and storage requirements.
  • High accuracy in counting, with strong attention to detail.
  • Sound physical condition and ability to perform manual handling tasks.
  • Excellent coordination and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good general medical condition (suitable for a physical, food-handling environment).
  • Computer literacy: MS Office (Word, Excel), Outlook, and basic numeracy.
  • Ability to read stock sheets and trace stock items.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain Management will be advantageous.
