Position Summary
We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Mid-Level Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project costs throughout the construction lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered within budget while maintaining quality and contractual compliance. The role requires strong commercial acumen, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with project teams, contractors, consultants, and clients.
Key ResponsibilitiesCost Planning & Estimating
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
- Compile project budgets and cost plans.
- Conduct feasibility cost studies.
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
- Assist with value engineering initiatives to optimise project costs.
Contract Administration
- Prepare tender documentation and evaluate contractor submissions.
- Administer construction contracts in accordance with relevant forms of contract.
- Prepare payment certificates and assess contractor claims.
- Evaluate and negotiate variations and change orders.
- Ensure contractual obligations are met by all parties.
Cost Control
- Monitor project costs throughout all construction phases.
- Prepare monthly cost reports and financial forecasts.
- Identify potential cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate cost records and project documentation.
Procurement
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Assist in procurement strategies and contractor selection.
- Negotiate pricing where appropriate.
- Ensure procurement complies with company policies.
Project Management Support
- Attend site meetings and project progress meetings.
- Conduct regular site measurements and valuations.
- Monitor project progress against budgets and timelines.
- Liaise with architects, engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly commercial reports.
- Forecast final project costs.
- Monitor project cash flow.
- Assist with project financial close-out.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with relevant construction legislation.
- Maintain professional and ethical standards.
- Adhere to health and safety requirements.
- Ensure accurate project records and documentation.
Minimum RequirementsQualifications
- BSc Quantity Surveying, BTech Quantity Surveying, or equivalent qualification.
- Registration with SACQSP (Candidate or Professional) will be advantageous.
Experience
- 3–6 years’ relevant Quantity Surveying experience.
- Experience in commercial, residential, industrial, or healthcare construction projects.
- Experience working for a contractor, developer, or professional consultancy.

Working Conditions

Pay: R13 000,00 – R20 000,00 per month
