ABOUT US:

Bottle Logistics EA. Ltd. specializes in efficiently recovering industrial and post-consumer glass waste and processes it into highly refined glass cullet, glass aggregate and clean reusable bottles for respective brand owners. We build strong collaborations across the value chain ensuring high recovery rates of the glass waste in its best form. We recover and recycle all hollow glass bottles and glass jars. These include wine and spirit glass bottles, water glass bottles, cosmetic glass bottles and glass jars. Our mission is to reduce environmental impact and contribute to a circular economy.

ABOUT THE ROLE.

We are looking for a dynamic QHSE Compliance & Audit Manager to join our team at Bottle Logistics East Africa Limited. The QHSE Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality, safety, health, and environmental (QHSE) processes and procedures within the company. This role ensures that all raw materials and final products comply with set quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.

The QHSE Manager will also oversee safety initiatives, emergency procedures, and training programs to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. This role requires a proactive leader with a strong background in quality control, a commitment to safety, and the ability to streamline processes while maintaining high standards of quality and environmental compliance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ø QUALITY ASSURANCE & CONTROL:

·      Develop, implement and monitor quality assurance processes and procedures.

·      Conduct inspections of raw materials and cullet to ensure compliance with the company's quality standards.

·      Oversee inspection of finished products that is, clean reusable bottles and cullet to meet customers’ requirements.

·      Lead and supervise the Quality Control (QC) team across the production lines to achieve quality objectives.

·      Investigate, resolve and manage customer complaints and non-conformities by implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

·      Collaborate with the supply chain and customers to ensure quality expectations are met.

·      Ensure the company achieves and maintains required quality accreditations and certifications.

Ø Safety, Health & Environmental Compliance:

·      Develop and enforce workplace safety policies, procedures, and SOPs.

·      Manage and monitor emergency response procedures, including signages and ensure proper implementation of personal protective equipment (PPE).

·      Ensure availability of trained first aiders on-site and well-stocked first aid kits at all sites.

·      Ensure full compliance with the Work Injury Benefits Act (WIBA) requirements.

·      Report workplace injuries, accidents, and occupational diseases to DOSH within statutory timelines.

·      Maintain accurate records of all incidents, injuries, and compensation claims.

·      Coordinate incident investigations and submit required reports to regulatory authorities.

·      Liaise with HR and insurance providers on employee injury claims and compensation processes.

·      Ensure all employees are sensitized on incident reporting procedures and safety protocols.

·      Promote a culture of safety and environmental sustainability across the organization.

Ø Audit & Compliance Management

·      Develop and implement internal QHSE audit programs and schedules.

·      Conduct regular compliance audits across the various departments.

·      Identify gaps, risks, and non-compliance issues and track closure of corrective actions.

·      Prepare audit reports and present findings to management with actionable recommendations.

·      Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements.

 

Ø Training & Capacity Building:

·      Develop and deliver QHSE training programs for staff and casual workers.

·      Conduct induction training on safety, quality, and environmental practices for new hires.

·      Continuously upskill QC teams, supervisors, and operational staff.

·      Monitor staff adherence to QHSE procedures and reinforce compliance through coaching and mentoring.

Ø Workplace Risk & Safety Management:

·      Conduct routine risk assessments and hazard identification across all operational sites.

·      Maintain general housekeeping standards and ensure a safe working environment.

·      Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential workplace dangers.

·      Ensure all QHSE documentation and records are maintained and up to date.

·      Monitor contractor and visitor compliance with safety standards.

Ø Documentation & Reporting

·      Maintain accurate QHSE records, including incident logs, audit reports, inspection reports, and training records.

·      Ensure all SOPs, MSDS, and safety documentation are updated and accessible.

·      Prepare periodic QHSE reports for management review such as safety incidents, compliance status etc.

Ø Continuous Improvement:

·      Analyze operational data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·      Must have a Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in a science related field e.g. industrial chemistry, food science and technology, Occupational Health & Safety.

·      Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant work experience with progressive management experience in a busy manufacturing environment preferably in the food production industry.

·      Professional certifications in QHSE (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO Lead Auditor)

·       Experience in audit management and compliance systems.

·      Familiarity with health, safety and environmental regulations and best practices.

·      Computer literacy is a must.

·      Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·      Strong leadership skills, with experience in building and managing teams.

·      Strong training & facilitation skills.

·      Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management skills.

·      Excellent analytical, critical thinking and organizational skills.

·      Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

·      Adaptability and continuous improvement mindset.

GROSS SALARY60,000 per month.
