Intermediate Project Manager – POS Development
📍 Linbro Park, Johannesburg
🕒 Full-time / Hybrid 3 days a week in office
We are looking for an experienced Intermediate Project Manager to lead and coordinate Point-of-Sale (POS) development projects within a fast-paced fintech environment. This role is ideal for a delivery-focused professional who thrives in Agile contexts and enjoys working with cross-functional technology teams.
You will be responsible for driving end-to-end project delivery, ensuring clear documentation, seamless stakeholder engagement, and high-quality outcomes across POS and payment-related initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of POS development projects
- Drive Agile (Kanban) workflows and maintain JIRA boards
- Coordinate sprint planning, backlog grooming, and delivery tracking
- Ensure quality and completeness of BRS and SOW documentation
- Provide regular project updates to internal and external stakeholders
- Manage and support Business Analysts and a Junior Project Manager
- Identify, manage, and resolve project risks, issues, and dependencies
- Ensure delivery timelines, scope, and quality standards are met
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, especially Kanban
- Advanced proficiency in JIRA (boards, workflows, reporting)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Effective leadership and team management capability
- High attention to detail, especially in documentation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications & Experience
- Matric (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field
- 4–7 years’ experience in project management within software or POS environments
- Proven experience managing Agile/Kanban delivery projects
- Experience leading small teams or delivery squads
- Experience within fintech, payments, or technology-driven environments (advantageous)
- POS, retail systems, payments, integrations, or transactional system exposure (advantageous)
- Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) is advantageous
