Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and results driven Production Supervisor(s) to oversee daily load and haul activities within our open-cast mining operations. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for leading a team of operators, managing heavy earthmoving equipment deployment,and optimizing cycle times to safely meet shifting production targets. This role requires an individual who can maintain stringent safety standards, enforce operational efficiencies, and effectively bridge the gap between daily mine planning and field execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day load and haul operations to ensure production targets (tonnage and volumes) are safely and efficiently achieved.
- Monitor and optimize shovel/excavator loading setups, truck matching, haul road maintenance and dumping sequences to minimize cycle times.
- Enforce strict adherence to mine safety regulations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and environmental policies to achieve a zero-harm working environment.
- Lead, mentor and manage a shift crew of machine operators, conduct daily pre-shift meetings (toolbox talks) and manage shift handovers effectively.
- Coordinate closely with the maintenance team to manage machine availability, report equipment defects promptly, and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Track, analyse and report on shift performance metrics (e.g. utilization, cycle times) using dispatch or fleet management systems.
Requirements
- A valid open cast blasting certificate issued by the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE).
- Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics, a Diploma in Mining Engineering or a related technical discipline is highly advantageous.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in open cast mining operations.
- Proven experience specifically supervising load and haul fleets, including heavy earthmoving machinery.
- At least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity managing a shift crew.
- Deep understanding of haul road maintenance parameters, truck-shovel matching optimization, and dumping methodologies.
