Production – Plastic Tubing Grinder Operator Jobs in McMinnville, OR at Freelin-Wade Co.
In this position, you will use light machinery to grind plastic tubing material and prepare it for recycling or disposal according to operation specifications. There is some light data entry work into Excel.

8 Hour Shift: 6:00AM – 2:30PM
Wage: $15.45 – $17.13 Depending on experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Grinding
- Retrieves of receives used plastic tubing materials for grinding
- Sorts materials for disposal and acceptable for recycling, according to written directions
- Determines priority status of materials to be ground for recycling in preparation of job order material requirements
- Follows color chart directions to determine and perform most efficient grinding order of recycled color tubing
- Operates granulator in safe and efficient manner according to equipment operation guidelines, keeping materials separate and uncontaminated
- Uses hand-truck to transport materials for grinding, staging, and storage
- Documents and reports material weight and other specifications on direction tags, recycle barrels, and daily journals
- Prints or winds bonded plastic tubing using appropriate methods and practices
- Updates and records job completion data on work order and maintains quality control record of job characteristics
- Cross-trained in other secondary production operations
- Meets most standard production times stated on assigned work orders
- Wears appropriate PPE and follows as prescribed safety rules and regulations
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Ability to:
- Maintains work area and all production equipment in clean and orderly condition following prescribed safety rules and regulations
- Promotes teamwork and a positive culture within the department and between all other departments and personnel
- Continuously search for improvement methods in your everyday work
- Other duties as required.
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED).
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, MSDS sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
- Recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers;
- Add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals;
- Calculate/convert units of measure including length, width, area, circumference, diameter and volume;
- Apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry;
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Read tape measure to 1/16th of inch. Read calipers, pin, pressure, and air gauges.
- Work independently and as a member of a group in a cooperative and collaborative manner.
- Use/develop reliable systems and work habits to effectively prioritize and organize a multitude of tasks.
- Ability to identify potential problems and independently seek out alternative solutions, including research, trial tests and communication of activities to others.
