Job Description – Floor Supervisor – George J. Howe Company
Primary Objective: Supervise daily production operations, oversee production staff, and support equipment set-up and maintenance.
The George J. Howe Company is seeking a reliable, hands-on Floor Supervisor to lead operations on our candy production floor. This role involves overseeing production employees, coordinating production schedules, ensuring equipment is properly set up, and maintaining high standards of product quality and safety. Candidates should have prior supervisory experience in manufacturing, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Consumer packaged goods experience would be ideal.
The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined and comfortable working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This is a full-time position based at our Grove City, PA production facility.
Responsibilities Include:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of production operators and packaging staff.
- Ensure timely production per schedule and adjust staffing as needed.
- Collaborate with Production Scheduler on shift goals and daily output requirements.
- Willingness to assist on production lines as needed to maintain expected output requirements.
- Support basic equipment set-up and troubleshooting as well as ensure proper preventative maintenance is being performed.
- Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisor on equipment repairs, maintenance and optimization.
- Coordinate with SQF team on quality checks and enforce GMP, HACCP, and safety compliance.
- Train and mentor team members on procedures, safety, and production efficiency.
- Maintain accurate shift records, communicate performance issues, and support maintenance reporting.
- Uphold housekeeping and safety standards on the production floor.
Skills Needed:
- Ability to lead a team with accountability and respect.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with production line equipment.
- Basic electrical and experience with equipment controls.
- Previous experience operating and maintaining vertical form fill machines.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Production planning and documentation experience.
- Knowledge of food safety and manufacturing practices preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Pay: $50,000.00 per year
