About the Role: The Production Finance Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day financial management, reporting, and control of one or more productions. The role ensures accurate cost tracking, compliance with budgets, contracts, and funding requirements, and provides timely financial information to production and senior management
The ideal profile for this role is a CA/ACCA-qualified professional with at least 6 years of experience, specifically within the UK market. You should thrive in high-stakeholder environments, possessing the maturity to challenge production budgets while maintaining the flexibility to move at the speed of a creative agency. We are looking for a "builder" who can provide high-level FP&A insights while ensuring the foundational UK bookkeeping remains impeccable.
Key Responsibilities
This role owns the financial integrity of our production accounts, serving as the primary lead for budgeting, compliance, and strategic reporting.
Production Accounting & Reporting
● Maintain accurate production cost reports, cashflows, and forecasts
● Track actual costs against approved budgets and highlight variances
● Prepare weekly/monthly cost reports for production management
● Support greenlight, refore-casting, and final cost reporting processes
Budgeting & Cashflow
● Assist with preparation and maintenance of production budgets
● Monitor production cashflow requirements and funding drawdowns
● Liaise with production teams to ensure spend aligns with schedules
Accounts Payable & Payroll
● Oversee processing of supplier invoices and crew payments
● Ensure correct coding of costs to productions and cost centres
● Work with payroll providers to ensure accurate and timely crew payroll
● Manage purchase orders, contracts, and deal memos from a finance perspective
Compliance & Controls
● Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and approval processes
● Maintain audit-ready documentation and supporting schedules
● Support external audits, funder reporting, and tax credit submissions
● Ensure compliance with relevant union agreements and production policies
Stakeholder Management
● Act as a key finance point of contact for Producers, Production Managers, and HODs
● Liaise with external accountants, payroll companies, funders, and auditors
● Provide financial guidance to production teams as required
Qualifications
Required
● Professional Pedigree: 6+ years in senior finance roles
● Strong understanding of production budgets, cost reporting, and cashflows
● Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
● Confident communicator, able to work closely with creative and production teams
● Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems
● Experience with production accounting software (preferably QuickBooks)
● Experience with theatre tax credits
● Accounting qualification (e.g. ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
Preferred
● Direct experience in the Production (theatre and shows), Media, or Creative Agency sectors.
● Experience managing high-volume stakeholder relationships.
