We are looking for a hands-on operator to take full ownership of how the practice runs day-to-day. This role exists because the partners are currently too involved in the operational side of the business and need someone who can step in, take control, and build structure.
You will be working in an environment where systems, reporting, and accountability still need to be properly established. The focus is on fixing problems, improving how things run, and creating a more structured and efficient operation.
If you prefer structured corporate environments with established systems, this role will not be the right fit.
Key responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the day-to-day operations of the practice
- Identify operational issues and ensure they are resolved
- Build and improve systems, workflows, and SOPs
- Introduce basic reporting, KPIs, and performance tracking
- Manage staff performance, scheduling, and accountability
- Handle staff issues, conflict, and disciplinary processes where required
- Oversee stock, suppliers, and general operational requirements
- Improve debtor management, cash flow, and cost control
- Act as the go-to person for day-to-day operational challenges
- Support the partners in improving overall business performance
Requirements
- 3–5 years’ experience in an operational management role
- Proven experience improving or building systems in a business
- Experience managing staff and dealing with performance issues
- Strong practical understanding of cash flow, cost control, and basic financials
- Comfortable working in an environment where structure needs to be created
- Able to take ownership and make decisions independently
Experience and qualifications
- Experience in healthcare, veterinary, or service-based environments advantageous
- Experience in SME or owner-managed businesses strongly preferred
- Diploma or degree in Business, Operations, or similar advantageous
