SUMMARY:
The PLC and Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for programming, maintaining and optimizing PLC and SCADA systems, with a strong focus on Allen-Bradley platforms. The role also provides electrical maintenance support and supervises maintenance staff during alternate weekend shifts to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities
- Program, modify and optimize PLC logic, primarily on Allen-Bradley systems
- Manage and maintain the SCADA system, including troubleshooting and updates
- Ensure effective integration between PLC systems and automated plant equipment
- Maintain accurate PLC, SCADA and electrical documentation
- Perform electrical maintenance, wiring, installations and fault finding
- Implement and manage preventative maintenance schedules for electrical systems
- Support mechanical and electrical maintenance activities on motors, drives and plant equipment
- Supervise maintenance teams every second weekend and respond to technical emergencies
Minimum Requirements
- Electrical qualification (NQF Level 5 or higher)
- Proven PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley essential)
- Strong industrial electrical maintenance experience
- Working knowledge of SCADA systems
- Willingness to work every second weekend
Advantageous
- Millwright qualification
- Experience in industrial automation and control systems
