We are seeking an experienced Payroll Supervisor to support the Group Payroll Manager in overseeing the full payroll function across a large, complex business environment. This role is ideal for a payroll professional with strong leadership ability, extensive Sage VIP Premier experience, and a solid understanding of statutory payroll compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and act as 2IC to the Group Payroll Manager
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for salaries and wages
- Verify payroll inputs, overtime, allowances, deductions, and salary changes
- Manage payroll compliance including EMP
201, EMP
501, IRP5s, UIF, SDL, PAYE - Reconcile and process medical aid, provident fund, garnishees, union and third-party payments
- Review payroll reports, GL exports, CTC costing, leave provisions, and month-end reporting
- Ensure payroll deadlines, audit requirements, and statutory submissions are met
- Supervise payroll team and provide support during manager absence
- Assist with weekly wages, leave processing, and payroll audits
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Payroll qualification / VIP certification
- Minimum 10 years payroll experience in a large payroll environment
- Minimum 5 years in a senior/supervisory payroll role
- Minimum 3+ years Sage VIP Premier experience
- Experience processing both weekly wages and monthly payroll
- Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation and statutory submissions
