Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in procedures, ensuring a positive first impression.
  • Schedule appointments efficiently using medical office software, accommodating patient needs and provider availability.
  • Verify insurance coverage, collect co-pays, and update patient records accurately within the electronic health record system.
  • Answer incoming phone calls promptly, providing clear information and directing inquiries to the appropriate staff members.
  • Maintain organized waiting areas and manage patient flow to minimize wait times while ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Support medical staff with administrative tasks such as preparing documentation, faxing referrals, and managing correspondence.
  • Uphold confidentiality standards by adhering to HIPAA regulations and safeguarding sensitive patient information.

Skills

  • Prior experience working in a medical or dental office setting with familiarity in medical terminology.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a busy environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and team members.
  • Proficiency in medical administrative support tasks including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and record keeping.
  • Knowledge of office software applications such as electronic health records (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in a dental office environment is a plus but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential.
