As an optician at our office you will play a crucial role in helping our patients look and see their best. You will also work closely with vendors to create a fashionable portfolio of products, and create custom eyewear with amazing technology. Duties
- Ordering eyeglasses: Patient frame and lens materials selection based on patient needs/budget, patient prescription, doctor recommendations; Patient education on product value and features; Taking accurate measurements utilizing a variety of methods
- Filing claims for exam and materials in a timely manner with vision plans
- Using the in-office edger cut eyeglass lenses for some orders
- Checking in eyeglass orders: Verifying order was filled correctly; Scheduling dispensing appointments; Correcting orders that don’t pass inspection in a timely manner
- Schedule dispensing appointments
- Documenting patient orders with relevant notes
- Eyeglass adjustments and minor repairs
- Troubleshoot to fix patient adaptation and vision issues with their eyeglasses
- Know how to properly use optician tools/equipment, such as manual lensometer, autolensometer, lens clock, pupillometer, Optikam, and lens edger
- Maintain tidiness and cleanliness on the optical floor and office
- Maintain sufficient and current optical and lab inventory: Work closely with frame vendors
- Order lab supplies (nose pads, lens cleaner, bags, eyeglass cases, lens cloths)
- Maintain and organize relevant invoices from the lab and eyewear purchases, be able to check them for accuracy, and reconcile them when the monthly bill arrives
Requirements
- Experience in optical preferred
- Highshool or GED equivalent
- Excellent computer skills
- Great math skills
- The ability to clearly and concisely communicate and interact with people of all ages and backgrounds – patients and our office team
- Greet customers genuinely
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of customer service and HIPAA patient privacy
- Great sense of time management and ability to prioritize workflow

Working Conditions

Pay: $19.00 – $22.00 per hour
