The Operations Officer is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of all financial and transaction flows across iPayBTC.
This role combines deep reconciliation expertise, real-time incident response, and cross-team coordination to ensure customer issues are resolved quickly and that no financial discrepancies go unnoticed.
This is a mission-critical role as iPayBTC works toward financial stability, system reliability, and scalable operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transaction Reconciliation (Core Focus)
- Perform daily reconciliation of:
- Lightning wallet transactions
- On-chain Bitcoin transactions
- Third-party provider accounts
- Fiat inflows/outflows (banks, payment partners)
- Investigate and resolve all discrepancies
- Maintain clear reconciliation logs and audit trails
- Ensure user balances, system balances, and provider balances are always aligned
2. Operational Analysis
- Review current workflows across Support, Engineering, and Finance
- Identify gaps in:
- Incident handling
- Monitoring
- Escalation processes
- Provide clear, actionable recommendations to improve operational reliability
3. Operational Systems & Process Design
- Design and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Build structured workflows for:
- Customer issue handling
- Transaction failures
- System incidents
- Improve and standardize escalation processes across teams
4. Incident Response & Customer Issue Coordination
- Act as the central coordinator for all transaction-related incidents, including:
- Failed or delayed payments
- Missing or stuck transactions
- Incorrect balances or reconciliation mismatches
- Own the full incident lifecycle:
- Detection , Investigation , Escalation , Resolution ,Reporting
- Prioritize incidents based on severity and customer impact
- Ensure all incidents are:
- Properly logged
- Resolved within defined timelines
- Documented with root cause and resolution
5. Liquidity & Transaction Monitoring
- Monitor:
- Hot wallet balances
- Lightning Network liquidity
- Service provider floats
- Ensure operational thresholds are maintained at all times
- Flag and escalate liquidity risks before they impact users
6. Operations Dashboard & Reporting
- Work with the team to build and operationalize the iPayBTC Operations Dashboard
- Track key operational metrics:
- Reconciliation status
- Incident volume and resolution time
- Transaction success/failure rates
- Produce weekly operational reports with insights and recommendations
7. Cross-Team Coordination
- Work closely with Customer Support to structure issue escalation
- Collaborate with Engineering via the on-call system for incident resolution
- Improve communication clarity and response speed across teams
Experience & Requirements
- 2–3 years in fintech, payments, or digital platform operations
- Strong experience in transaction reconciliation (highly important)
- Experience managing operational workflows or service reliability
- Experience working cross-functionally
Salary: ₦250,000 – ₦300,000
