Job Summary
To ensure that all operational aspects of the Company’s business in Angola is efficiently run in compliance with legislation and in such a way as to promote the Health, Safety and Welfare of all employees in the operations department, as well, as maximise availability of rental units and associated services to meet business needs in Angola at optimal cost.
Principal Accountabilities
- To ensure that operations are properly organised to achieve its business commitments
In An Effective Manner
- Exercise the highest standard of duty of care for the Health & Safety of Operations personnel and anyone else (internal and / or external) operating in, passing through, and / or visiting the operations. This includes the risk assessment and approval of any processes, systems or equipment provided by functional departments and / or external sources.
- Preparation of the budgetary input for the annual Operations budget. To prepare an annual budget and manage operating costs for all operational activity in Angola. This will be achieved by close liaison with the operational and commercial staff at each operating location.
- Achievement of delivery, quality, cost, productivity and other business targets as generally defined in the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), and as specifically defined by the Sales & Operations Plan (S&OP) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
- Maintain agreed KPI’s and an effective closed loop performance management process to ensure achievement of targets
- Ensure an effective planning and day to day performance monitoring process to maintain a closed loop and real time control of output and quality.
- Develop and maintain appropriate training accreditation process to facilitate the proper deployment of process / product changes across operational areas
- Ensure personnel are operating according to procedure and develop a multi-skilledworkforce.
- Manage the interface between operations personnel and the required functions / support teams to ensure that optimum service levels are provided, and take action via the relevant functional manager when improvement is required.
- Interface with Sales and Technical groups to ensure that new product introductions, product changes and technical trials are properly planned and executed. This includes the detailed specification and planning of associated operations processes and equipment requirements, and strict specifications and document control.
- Maintain high levels of operating discipline and procedural conformance throughout the operation in accordance with ISO, LEEA, and any other agreed operating processes and procedures.
- Create & Review quality procedures in accordance with the company’s policy to ensure reaccreditation of the ISO & OHSAS standards.
- Effectively manage absence and all other disciplinary and or / HR issues relating to the operation in line with company policies and procedures.
- Work in close cooperation with the HSEQ department to maintain effective monitoring and corrective action processes relating to customer complaints.
- Maintain a detailed knowledge of sales requirements, product strategy and key business decision drivers, and develop and / or adjust the operational capability to satisfy futurebusiness requirements.
- Proactively play a lead role in the delivery/management of the Operational Excellence strategic objective.
- Provide input into current future CCU requirements.
- Deployment of managerial accountabilities and the continual development of the organisation towards an inclusive operating culture that drives high levels of discipline and performance ownership:
- Deployment of business decisions, policies, processes, standards and directives to all levels of the operations.
- Setting and upholding high levels of operating and personal standards and instil an ethos of professionalism, integrity, quality, discipline and ownership for performance throughout the operation via effective delegation and deployment.
- Provide key accountabilities, clear goals and measurable objectives at collective and individual levels.
- Ensure effective monitoring, performance management and timely appraisal processes in line with the appraisal / performance management process.
- Effective communication of goals, objectives, strategies, ongoing performance and other essential day to day operating information.
- Display direct leadership when colleagues require support to achieve their own key objectives.
- Develop staff capability to meet the needs of the business (personal coaching, mentoring, facilitation, education programmes or replacement as appropriate) in conjunction with HR function.
- Foster an effective ownership and involvement culture that is focused on delivering against external and internal customer commitments.
- Continually develop individual capabilities and foster team work within operations and functional departments.
- Work to strengthen internal customer – supplier partnerships and to promote teamwork within site management teams.
- Address discipline, performance and behavioural problems as they occur.

Performance
- Develop and deploy improvement strategies via annual improvement planning in line with the AOP, commercial, and other objectives agreed with the Head of Operations and within the management team.
- In accordance with the Operational Excellence objective, drive an inclusive and data driven process of continuous improvement via the use of structured planning methodologies (5S, TPM, LEAN, etc.).
- Maintain KPI’s to reflect the progress of all key performance parameters.
- Ensure that performance objectives and results are understood and effectively / regularly communicated at all levels within the organisation.
- Ensure effective review and follow up processes to monitor improvement performance and results, and to redirect as necessary.
- Train and coach direct reports on improvement principles and techniques.
- Recognise success and achievement .
- Benchmark and continuously learn about best practises.
- Make improvements a normal part daily work.
- Proactive participation in the development and improvement of Hareness Place Operations
- Work with peer group to continuously improve site wide business and operational process.
- Co-operate with SES colleagues on joint initiatives relating to SES operational improvement activities and strategic goals when required.
- Strive for consistency of management approach throughout the site operation.
Qualifications And Experience
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 7years of working experience in multinational companies with 3years in senior operational position
- Experience of Managing resources both financial & personnel.
- Experienced communicator at all levels within the organisation.
- Knowledge &/or experience of Helifuel/Chemical storage & filling activities.
- Knowledge &/or experience of IMO inspection requirements for transportable chemical tanks.
- Knowledge of current lifting legislation & CCU repair processes.
- Experience in the lifting industry including testing techniques, liftine equipment requirements & CCU periodic assessment requirements.
- Membership to relevant Professional bodies an added advantage
