Title: Operations Manager

Company: Pepkor Lifestyle

Location: Akasia, Gauteng, South Africa

We are looking for a dynamic Operations Manager to serve as the right hand (2IC) to our DC Manager. You won’t just be managing a warehouse; you will be the heartbeat of our delivery promise, overseeing high-velocity E-commerce fulfilment and orchestrating our last-mile courier network.

Key Responsibilities

Your core focus areas include:

  • Warehouse Excellence: Lead daily operations, from inbound receiving to outbound execution, ensuring all SAP standards and SLAs are met.

  • E-commerce & Fine Picking: Own the "unboxing experience" by optimizing fine-picking zones, managing wave picking for express orders, and maintaining 99.9% picking accuracy.

  • Courier & Last-Mile Strategy: Manage external courier partnerships and our internal "Skooch" fleet. You will be responsible for fleet utilization, route optimization, and cost control.

  • Inventory Integrity: Implement rigorous stock-take policies and safekeeping practices to keep losses within budget and stock accuracy at peak levels.

  • Performance Optimization: Drive KPIs through data-driven reporting (SAP/WMS), identifying improvement opportunities in warehouse layout and transportation costs.

  • Compliance & Safety: Maintain a "safety first" culture, ensuring 100% compliance with OHASA regulations and internal safety policies.

  • People Leadership: Mentor and develop a high-performing team, managing everything from onboarding and IR to succession planning and employee satisfaction.

What We Are Looking For

  • The Credentials: Grade 12 and a relevant Tertiary Qualification in Logistics/Supply Chain.
  • The Experience: 5+ years of leadership experience in a consumable goods warehouse environment.
  • Understanding of SAP EWM and FarEye
  • Proven experience in fine-picking models (zone/cluster picking) and last-mile routing.
  • A resilient leader who leads by example, manages change effectively, and thrives in a customer-centric environment.

Competencies

  • Budgeting, forecasting, and logistics cost analysis.
  • Ability to manage internal teams and external logistics providers.
  • Understanding the JD Group operating model and financial drivers.
  • High integrity and strict adherence to data privacy and ethical standards.
