OFM News Bulletin Compiler

Do you have an appetite for news? Can you hold your own in conversations about governance, politics, economics, history, science and pop culture? If you are a high-energy storyteller who thrives under the pressure of a ticking clock, OFM wants to meet you.

We’re looking for a full-time Radio News Bulletin Compiler to craft clear, accurate and engaging bulletins for Central South Africa’s leading commercial radio station in both Afrikaans and English (yes, you’ll need to be fluent in both).

You’ll be based in our Bloemfontein newsroom, reporting to the OFM News Editor. We need someone who is focused, output-driven with a strong grasp of current affairs, a solid understanding of OFM’s audience, and excellent ready for radio broadcast, writing skills.

Requirements

A relevant tertiary qualification in journalism, communication or language studies will count in your favour. A minimum of three years in a newsroom (print or radio broadcast) is essential.

What you’ll do

You’ll compile news bulletins in line with OFM’s style guide and broadcast license requirements, edit audio clips, and coordinate with journalists to follow up on stories. From time to time, you may also step into a reporting role yourself because getting the story right always comes first.
