Office Administrator – Peoples Church Preschool
Peoples Church Preschool | East Lansing, Michigan
Full-time | Year-round | Salaried
Peoples Church Preschool is seeking a highly organized and friendly Office Administrator to support our preschool operations and ensure smooth, efficient office management. This position is essential to maintaining communication between families, staff, and leadership while handling administrative responsibilities that keep our preschool running effectively.
The Office Administrator reports to the Preschool Director and works closely with teaching staff, families, and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families, staff, and visitors via phone, email, and in-person inquiries
- Maintain accurate student records, enrollment files, and attendance logs
- Manage daily office operations including filing, scheduling, and data entry
- Prepare and distribute internal communications, newsletters, and announcements
- Support budgeting, billing, and tuition tracking as directed by the Director
Family & Community Communication
- Greet families and visitors with a welcoming, professional demeanor
- Respond to inquiries promptly and provide clear information about programs and policies
- Assist with registration, enrollment, and orientation for new families
- Help coordinate events, parent-teacher conferences, and family activities
Staff & Program Support
- Support staff with scheduling, supply requests, and office-related needs
- Maintain classroom and office supplies inventory
- Assist in maintaining compliance with licensing, health, and safety requirements
- Provide backup support for summer programs and special events as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, or related field preferred
- Previous office, administrative, or customer service experience required
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable using computers, email, Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, and other basic office technology
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, or move around the office for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally (office supplies, files)
- Ability to interact with children, staff, and families in a busy office environment
Working Environment
- Fast-paced, collaborative preschool office
- Regular interaction with families, staff, and children
- Indoor office environment with occasional support in classrooms or on-site events
