Role Title: Core Network Architect & Lead ISP Engineer Location: Nairobi, Kenya (On-site)
Role Description We are building a next-generation telecommunications operator from the ground up, and we are looking for a true Core Network Architect. We are not looking for a standard 9-to-5 employee. We are searching for an exceptional engineer for whom the network is a living organism, an extension of themselves.
Your mission is to design, deploy, and take absolute ownership of our entire ISP infrastructure from absolute zero. Our ultimate goal is a fully autonomous, highly automated, and self-healing PON network. You must know every node, every fiber route, and every configuration intimately. We need someone who can detect, diagnose, and resolve an anomaly at any time and from anywhere in the world, ensuring uncompromising uptime.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect from Zero: Design and deploy the complete L2/L3 network topology, core routing, and access layers (FTTx/GPON) from the ground up.
- Autonomous Operations: Engineer a highly automated network infrastructure that minimizes manual intervention, utilizing advanced traffic engineering and proactive monitoring.
- Extreme Ownership: Treat the network as your own. Maintain 24/7 mental ownership of the infrastructure, with the ability to troubleshoot and restore services instantly, regardless of your location.
- Carrier-Grade Integration: Configure and manage high-capacity Core/Edge routers, Broadband Remote Access Servers (BRAS), and OLT platforms (specifically Huawei and MikroTik environments).
- Optimization & Scaling: Continuously analyze network performance to prevent bottlenecks, ensuring the architecture is highly scalable and fault-tolerant to support rapid subscriber growth.
Qualifications & The Mindset
- The Calling: You live and breathe networking. Building and protecting an ISP infrastructure is your passion, not just a job.
- ISP DNA: Deep, proven background in the telecommunications/ISP sector. You must have built and scaled provider-level networks before.
- Deep Protocol Knowledge: Expert-level mastery of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, and PPPoE/IPoE subscriber termination.
- PON Mastery: Extensive hands-on experience in designing and configuring GPON/XGS-PON architectures.
- Hardware Expertise: Deep practical knowledge of carrier-grade vendor equipment (e.g., Huawei MA5800 series, NE/ME routers, MikroTik).
- Systematic Approach: You document, structure, and automate everything. You build networks that work like a Swiss watch.
