About the Opportunity
A client company is looking to appoint an experienced Registered Debt Counsellor who will be instrumental in delivering a large-scale financial literacy project in KwaZulu-Natal.
The successful candidate will form part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for providing debt counselling support and financial literacy programmes in the province.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Conduct debt counselling workshops for consumers.
- Provide financial literacy education to communities.
- Educate consumers on debt review and debt rehabilitation.
- Assist consumers with understanding debt review removal processes.
- Educate consumers regarding prescribed debt.
- Provide guidance on credit records and negative listings.
- Educate consumers regarding responsible borrowing and budgeting.
- Prepare workshop reports and attendance documentation.
- Travel extensively throughout KwaZulu-Natal.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Registered Debt Counsellor with the National Credit Regulator (NCR).
- Successfully completed a debt counselling course approved by the NCR or another approved institution.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ relevant experience
The successful candidate must be fluent in English and IsiZulu
Preferred Competencies
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Public sector or NGO project experience.
- Strong report-writing skills.
- Knowledge of the National Credit Act.
- Knowledge of the Consumer Protection Act.
- Experience facilitating workshops in rural and township communities.
