Role Overview
The National Manager – Sales & Marketing is responsible for leading and integrating the company’s national sales and marketing functions to drive sustainable revenue growth, strengthen brand presence, and enhance customer satisfaction across South Africa. The role requires strategic leadership, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to manage high-performance teams within the commercial vehicle and trucking industry.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership

  • Develop and implement national and regional sales strategies to expand market share and drive revenue growth in the commercial vehicle sector.
  • Lead and manage dealer network performance, maintain strong relationships with fleet clients, and oversee direct sales channels.
  • Establish and monitor key sales performance indicators (KPIs) and adjust strategies to ensure quarterly and annual targets are achieved.

Marketing Strategy & Brand Management

  • Direct the company’s brand positioning, advertising initiatives, and promotional campaigns to strengthen market presence.
  • Ensure marketing activities align with product launches, seasonal demand cycles, and targeted customer segments.
  • Maintain compliance with local advertising regulations and ensure marketing communications are culturally relevant to the South African market.

Strategic Planning & Performance Reporting

  • Work closely with the General Manager to align commercial strategies with the organisation’s overall business objectives.
  • Prepare and present monthly sales performance reports, market intelligence, and strategic insights for executive review.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving customer experience, loyalty, and long-term client retention.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide leadership and oversight to departmental heads, including the Regional Sales Manager and Regional Marketing Manager.
  • Support recruitment, training, and professional development of sales and marketing personnel.
  • Foster a results-driven, customer-focused culture that promotes collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Automotive Management, or a related field (MBA or postgraduate qualification preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in senior commercial leadership roles within the automotive or commercial vehicle industry.
  • Demonstrated success in managing dealer networks and large fleet sales operations.
  • Strong knowledge of South African automotive regulations and a solid understanding of Southern African regional market dynamics.
