Title: National Finance Manager

This position is responsible for the end-to-end management, governance, and performance of the finance department for Mowana Properties (Pty) Ltd (“Mowana”) and the two property portfolios, the Pareto portfolio and the GEPF portfolio.
Responsibilities
Finance Operations Management
- Ensure that process and controls are streamlined at Mowana Corporate and for the portfolios under management, and that all internal financial controls are in place.
- Ensures finance processes are documented, communicated and trained.
- Ensure execution of approved financial policies.
- Provide guidance and advice to the Finance team.
- Implementation of Mowana Corporate and Finance strategy.
Annual Budget
- Plan and direct the annual budget for Mowana Corporate and the portfolios under management.
Taxation
- Assist/Prepare and submit EMP201’s.VAT 201’s, IRP6’s, EMP501’s and IT14’s.
- Complete and submit necessary returns on a monthly basis/when required, perform necessary follow ups on tax issues and maintain accurate records of all taxes paid.
- Assist and review with corporate tax calculations for the Mowana business
- Provide tax support to Finance Managers across the Mowana business
Management Reporting
- Review/assist with the preparation of the management accounts and departmental cost reports for Mowana Corporate
- Providing accurate and timely financial and management reports, including analysis of variances against budget to the FD.
- Conduct continuous reviews of financial information on portfolios under management prior their submission to clients.
- Review and prepare a consolidation of the monthly results for the Portfolio Executive and Asset Management for portfolios under management.
- Ensure the accuracy of forecasts for the portfolios under management.
Internal and External Audit
- Assist the internal and external auditors in planning audits.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure smooth execution of audit and minimise findings.
- Ensure that internal and external audit queries are addressed annd resolved timeously for the portfolios under management and Mowana Corporate.
- Provide management comments.
- Ensure annual external audit readiness.
Year End
- Review year end accounting and tax packs prior to submission to clients.
- Ensure that Inter-company accounts balance.
- Reviews/Prepare the financial statements for Mowana Properties.
Cost management
- Drive costs down by continuously reviewing costs to identify opportunities for savings and improvements.
- Assist in cost management for portfolios under management and Mowana Corporate according to the budget.
- Any cost analysis required by the Financial Director.
Ad-hoc support
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis as and when requested.
- Prepares Board and Board committee submissions.
- Provide support to Financial Director, Portfolio Executive and Head of departments.
Payroll
- Review and approve the monthly payroll.
- Ensure that salaries are paid timeously.
Treasury
- Update/analyse the monthly cashflow forecasts.
- Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements.
- Custodian for all the Mowana bank accounts.
- Approves electronic payments.
- Ensure that distributions to owners are made timely and accurately.
Debtors Management
- Manage Mowana Corporate debtors’ book and ensure that outstanding debtors are at acceptable levels.
Effective performance of all accounting department functions
- Ensures that accounting functions and duties are accurately and promptly completed.
- Resolves accounting errors and discrepancies.
- Manage financial income, including Management Fees and Letting Commissions
- Manages financial expenditure, including running costs, staff expenses, admin costs and VAT
- Prepares regular reports and statements for management.
- Ensures that general ledger accounts are reconciled at Pareto Shopping Centres, GEPF portfolio and Mowana Corporate.
- Ensures that accounting functions are completed in accordance with established procedures and applicable regulations and per Pareto’s accounting manual and any other applicable policies.
- Filing of relevant records.
- Reviews Adjustment accounts for properties purchased or sold by the property owners.
- Ensure the completion of month and periodic statutory returns.
- Ensure compliance with the International Financial Reporting Standards.
Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned
- Assist in approval, appointments, and management of payments to service companies and suppliers.
Qualifications
- Honours Degree in Commerce with Accounting
- Ideal: CA(SA)
- Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Detail-oriented and analytical
Experience
- Minimum of 5 – 10 years of experience in accounting
- Microsoft Dynamics
