Job Description
The position oversees fleet planning, vehicle procurement, driver certification, maintenance and repairs, and the sale or disposal of vehicles. It ensures that fleet policies are correctly applied, that the expected quality of work is delivered, and that global fleet performance metrics are consistently achieved. This role will include supervision of fleet coordinators and/or missionaries; in other cases, it may involve supervision of fleet processes. . This is a key decision‑making role that handles sensitive operational matters and interacts with department leaders and Church management at all levels.
Responsibilities
- Manage and train fleet personnel, including fleet coordinators and administrative assistants, through effective communication, team meetings, individual coaching, and group training.
- Support and train area office personnel involved in fleet operations.
- Oversee and train mission fleet coordinators in all fleet-related processes.
- Manage and oversee all aspects of fleet services while ensuring exceptional customer service.
- Promote the usage of global vehicle contracts and encourage the establishment and use of local fleet contracts.
- Ensure compliance with all vehicle registration requirements and applicable government regulations within the jurisdiction.
- Implement and oversee quality assurance programs to ensure adherence to Church fleet policies, cost-efficiency standards, and accounting procedures.
- Negotiate service contracts with car dealerships, insurance providers, shuttle service companies, and other fleet-related vendors. Regularly monitor their performance and service quality.
- Review, analyze, and develop action plans to improve fleet productivity, safety, quality, and service programs.
- Address urgent fleet-related issues and emergencies, including vehicle breakdowns, accidents, or other operational disruptions, during and outside core work hours.
Qualifications
- 11 years of any combination of related experience, or progress toward/completion of a relevant post‑secondary (university) degree, or an industry‑recognized certification.
Experience should demonstrate strong ability to manage fleet processes, oversee vehicle operations, and handle vendor relationships, including effective negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), with the ability to learn and use new computer systems as required.
- Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CFAM) certification (or the ability to obtain it, depending on job requirements).
- Ability to travel as required for fleet inspections, vendor evaluations, training, and supervision of fleet operations across assigned locations
