PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To supervise the safe and cost-effective execution of all metallurgical work ensuring the achievement of production and quality targets.
SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY
- Ensure SHEQ compliance within the Team through effective use of the Toolbox
- Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
PEOPLE
Supervise the Team:
Supervise the Team:
- Ensure an enabling climate/culture
- Maintain labour stability by minimising labour turnover
- Labour complement in line with budget
- Manage performance against set targets and competencies
- Ensure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan
- Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly)
- Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
- Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels
- Conduct recruitment interviews
CUSTOMERS
- Ensure Customer Satisfaction
BUSINESS PROCESSES
Financial Management:
- Control costs
People Management:
- Supervise subordinates, includes training and development of the Metallurgical Team
Production:
- Achieve Production Budget
- Compile daily production report
- Manage SAP notifications for process
- Drive IMS and MES systems
Quality:
- Achieve Process Quality
Operational Excellence:
- Manage integration of improvement projects and change management initiatives
- Follow instructions from direct senior
1st Line Supervision:
- Supervise the safe and environmentally friendly operation of the metallurgical processes
- Achieve Shift Target
- Achieve Metallurgy Quality
Maintenance:
- Prepare plant for maintenance processes
- Create notifications for maintenance work
Reporting:
- Complete the shift report
- Update the MES and KPI’s
- Improvement Projects:
- Supervise the integration of improvement projects and change management initiatives
SHAREHOLDER VALUE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum qualifications:
- National Diploma or B Tech Degree: Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering
Additional requirements:
- Medical fitness as per organisational requirements.
Required Experience:
- 5 years relevant experience, preferably 2 years supervisory experience.
