Roche Pharma in Midrand is seeking a Medical Partner to join their team.
The Opportunity
As a Medical Partner, you will act as a trusted, externally focused, and scientifically grounded collaborator within our customer engagement model. In this role, you will drive local and cross-country medical activities to accelerate our pipeline, differentiate our portfolio with robust data, and secure earlier, broader access to our innovations for patients.
You will join a collaborative and agile ecosystem where your medical expertise serves as a critical engine of competitiveness. Working end-to-end across the asset lifecycle, you will anticipate changes in medical practice and ensure we remain the preferred partner in our key disease areas.
Key Challenges
- Lead Medical Strategy: Drive the medical component of the integrated strategy, shaping a scientifically sound and differentiated value story locally that reflects an end-to-end business perspective.
- Proactive Customer Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, cultivating peer-to-peer relationships with Therapeutic Area Experts (TAEs) to foster clinical endorsement and drive required healthcare system changes.
- Insight Generation: Systematically gather, analyze, and translate clinical practice and patient insights into actionable recommendations to guide the squad’s strategy.
- Evidence Planning& Execution: Design and implement local Integrated Evidence Plans (IEP), identifying evidence gaps and executing tactics such as Real-World Evidence (RWE) studies and Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS).
- Maximize HTA and Access Value: Contribute scientific expertise to local Health Technology Assessment (HTA) submissions, validating data integrity to articulate a compelling value story that secures patient access.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Clinical Operations, Regulatory, and Legal teams to support clinical trials (Phase I-IV) and facilitate faster product license approvals.
- Maintain Operational Excellence: Ensure all medical activities, medical information inquiries, and materials comply with company policies, local regulatory rules, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.
Who You Are
You are a self-directed professional with a growth mindset, outstanding integrity, and a passion for turning complex science into meaningful patient impact. You excel at navigating dynamic environments and bringing diverse cross-functional teams together to achieve shared goals.
- Education: A completed higher degree in Medical, Pharmaceutical, or Natural Sciences (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience within Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, or a related scientific role within a specific disease area.
- Skills: Robust understanding of medical affairs strategies, clinical research methodologies, and evidence-generation tactics.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to build trusted networks, influence complex environments, and communicate high-quality scientific information effectively.
- Language: Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
