Position Summary
This role requires a registered nursing professional to oversee, train, and audit hospital housekeeping teams with a focus on Infection, Prevention & Control (IPC). The primary goal is to maintain flawless hospital hygiene, eliminate hospital-acquired infections, and ensure full compliance with healthcare waste, linen, and sanitation laws.
Key Performance Areas (KPAs)
1. Clinical Sanitation & Infection Control
- Enforce Protocols: Translate clinical infection control guidelines into daily, actionable routines for cleaning staff.
- High-Risk Oversight: Direct specialized terminal cleaning and chemical disinfection in critical areas (ICU, Theatre, Neonatal, and Isolation wards).
- Outbreak Management: Lead emergency deep-cleaning and decontamination procedures during infectious disease outbreaks.
- Surface Validation: Perform routine microbiological swab tests and blacklight audits on high-touch surfaces.
2. Team Leadership & Training
- Skills Development: Conduct continuous training on medical-grade cleaning methods, chemical dilution, and contact times.
- Safety & PPE: Train and monitor cleaning staff on the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Performance Management: Supervise, schedule, and evaluate the performance of housekeeping supervisors, cleaners, and laundry staff.
3. Waste & Linen Management
- Hazardous Waste Control: Oversee the strict segregation, color-coding, storage, and disposal of biomedical waste and sharps.
- Linen Logistics: Manage the ward linen cycle to ensure zero cross-contamination between soiled and clean linens.
4. Compliance, Auditing & Quality Assurance
- Inspections: Conduct daily ward hygiene inspections and log building or maintenance defects (e.g., damp, cracked tiles) affecting sanitation.
- Reporting: Prepare weekly environmental compliance reports & audits
- Accreditation Readiness: Ensure the facility meets external healthcare inspection and accreditation standards.
- Develop & implement health and safety policies and procedures
Additional Requirements
· Must be willing to travel to various Provinces
· Own Vehicle (Valid Drivers License)
Pay: R20 000,00 – R25 000,00 per month
