Manager: Events, Film and Entertainment Jobs in Cape Town at V&A Waterfront
The Manager: Events, Film and Entertainment will support the Senior Manager with planning, managing and delivery of initiatives, while taking primary responsibility for the management and operational execution of internal and external events, film permitting and brand activations, including third-party and revenue-generating activities. This role also provides leadership to a small team, ensuring effective coordination and delivery across all initiatives.The role ensures the seamless implementation of experiences that enable the V&A Waterfront and Marketing objectives.
As part of the broader Marketing team, the role is responsible for facilitating and, where appropriate, creating immersive and commercially viable brand experiences, while maintaining a consistently high standard of delivery that enhances brand perception and positively impacts visitors, tenants and other stakeholders.
Job Objectives:
1. Contribute to and support in the development of Strategic Plans
- In collaboration with Senior Management, contribute to the planning and development of events, brand activations and film initiatives that drive brand awareness, engagement and commercial return
- Provide input to the Event, Film and Entertainment strategy that is aligned to the V&A business and marketing objectives
- Advise on opportunities to leverage the precinct through events, activations and filming to enhance brand visibility and revenue generation
- Monitor industry trends, market activity, film and events landscapes, and emerging platforms to inform innovation and improve precinct experiences
- Identify and drive new opportunities for external eventing, brand activations and filming that optimize precinct utilization and commercial value
- Support the development of platforms that enable tenant and partner participation in the precinct
2. Event, Film Permits and Activation Management
- Translate the business and marketing objectives into operational delivery through events, third-party activations and film/photography permits
- Manage and oversee the facilitation and execution of internal and external events, brand activations, and filming activities across the precinct
- Act as a central coordination point for third-party event organizers, production companies and brand partners
- Ensure seamless delivery of revenue-generating activations and filming opportunities in line with precinct standards
- Coordinate and manage all stakeholders, suppliers and service providers to deliver safe, compliant and high-quality experiences
- Oversee multiple concurrent projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to required standards
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, permitting requirements, health and safety regulations, and precinct operational guidelines
- Anticipating and planning for different scenarios to create contingency and crisis-management plans and mitigate risks when necessary
- Manage, maintain and circulate the event, activations and filming calendar
3. Stakeholder Relationship Management
- Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders, tenants, external clients, agencies, production companies and city officials
- Facilitate a professional, efficient and solutions-oriented service for external event organizers, brands and film applicants
- Position the V&A Waterfront as a preferred destination for events, activations and filming
- Identify and support revenue-generating and sponsorship opportunities across events and activations
- Engage proactively with industry networks to strengthen partnerships and unlock new opportunities
4. Financial and Commercial Management
- Develop, manage and track budgets across events, activations and film-related activities
- Monitor and report on revenue generated through third-party events, activations and filming
- Ensure cost control, financial compliance and commercial optimization across all initiatives
- Compile financial reports and provide insights to inform future planning and decision-making
5. Performance Evaluation and Reporting
- Define clear success metrics for events, activations and film initiatives (qualitative and quantitative)
- Monitor and evaluate performance against objectives, including commercial, brand and experience outcomes
- Compile post-event, activation and filming reports with insights and recommendations
- Continuously improve delivery standards, commercial performance and stakeholder satisfaction
6. Team Leadership and Capability Building
- Lead, manage and develop a small team to ensure effective delivery across all functional areas
- Set clear objectives, manage performance and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
- Foster a high-performance, accountability-driven team culture
- Ensure knowledge sharing and capability development within the team
Educational Requirements
- in Marketing, Communications or related field
- Event Management / Project Management Certificate / Diploma will be advantageous
Knowledge Requirements
- Knowledge of and experience in the application of Marketing principles and processes (e.g. agency selections, briefings, conceptual and creative evaluation, debriefings etc.)

Experience Requirements
- 7+ Years Experiential Marketing, Event Management, Trade Marketing experience
- FMCG / Sports / Brand / Financial Services / Telecom
