MSA Outsourcing Solutions – UK is seeking a highly skilled Management Accountant with Bookkeeping & Advisory Experience to join on of UK clients. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. You will be responsible for preparing management accounts, analyzing financial data, and identifying opportunities for improvement to enhance the company's financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with practice team, supporting practice accountants with their clients record keeping.
- Work and communicate directly with clients in a professional and proactive manner
- Prepare monthly management accounts across multiple SME clients and entities.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledgers to ensure accurate and audit-ready records.
- Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Process accruals, prepayments, and journal adjustments during month-end close.
- Deliver financial reports, commentary, and actionable insights to clients and stakeholders.
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping duties including purchase ledger, sales ledger, expense management, and reconciliations.
- Support clients in improving internal bookkeeping processes and management reporting systems.
- Assist clients in selecting and implementing appropriate accounting and reporting software based on operational and reporting needs.
- Work across a variety of sectors and adapt reporting approaches to different business models.
- Use accounting platforms such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and other cloud-based finance tools.
- Utilise accounting automation tools and advanced Excel functions to improve efficiency and reporting quality.
- Support ad hoc financial projects including budgeting, forecasting, cashflow reporting, and process improvements.
Requirements
- AAT Level 4 qualified (or similar level qualification).
- 3-10 years of experience in management accounting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting.
- Strong bookkeeping experience and willingness to undertake hands-on transactional finance work as part of the role.
- Experience working with SMEs and/or within an accounting practice environment preferred.
- Proficient in at least two major accounting platform such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage (other similar softwares)
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and reporting analysis.
- Experience with month-end close processes.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines accurately within a small team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Confidence communicating directly with clients and explaining financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Basic understanding of UK VAT principles and willingness to quickly learn sector-specific VAT treatments
