Purpose of the Position
This is a full-time role located in Nelspruit for a Maintenance Foreman-Grade CU, reporting to the Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Foreman will lead a team implementing and maintaining preventative maintenance programs in line with the company policies and procedures, ensuring a reliable transport fleet and effective facilities management.
Key Performance Areas
• Communicate effectively with customers (internal and/or external).
• Be able to manage, supervise, and motivate a team.
• Manage and allocate work to mechanical contractors.
• Assist with on-road support for breakdowns.
• Analyze Driver report sheet.
• Coordinate scheduling of maintenance interventions.
• Coordinate unscheduled repairs and breakdowns.
• Manage the fleet service and maintenance programmes efficiently.
• Manage the store's stock, workshop administrations and facilities maintenance.
• Provide solutions to mechanical failures.
• Attend regular safety meetings, maintain a safe working environment, and investigate incidents within the department.
• Plan and manage maintenance schedule as per manufacturing specifications.
• Handle workshop queries.
• Monitor fuel levels.
• Carry out ad-hoc tasks as directed by management.
• The successful candidate must be prepared to work flexible hours, shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Qualifications
- Matric.
- Qualified Diesel mechanic qualification is essential.
- Minimum of 5 years qualified experience as Diesel Mechanic.
- Strong Supervisory Skills for leading and managing maintenance teams.
- Computer literacy in MS Teams.
- Experience on European vehicles (MAN, Mercedes-Benz).
- Experience on trailing equipment (BPW, Jost, Thermo King fridges, Tail lifts).
- Ability to function effectively within a team environment (Internal and external).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work unsupervised.
