Vacancy: Maintenance Fitter: Semi-skilled
Pie in the Sky is an artisanal industrial bakery that prides itself in superior quality of products and a high rate of order fulfillment to customers, for both ambient and frozen bakery products.
Purpose of the role: Support maintenance work to keep machinery, equipment, and facilities running safely and efficiently, with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
· Preventive Maintenance: Assist with daily and weekly maintenance tasks and follow maintenance plans and safety standards.
· Machinery, Plant & Utilities: Check and monitor assigned equipment and respond quickly to faults and breakdowns.
· Mechanical and Electrical Support: Assist with repairs, welding, fitting, and basic electrical maintenance and repairs.
· Premises Maintenance: Help maintain buildings (lights, plumbing, doors, etc.). Perform routine checks and minor repairs.
· Service Providers: Assist with contractors and check quality of work and ensure jobs are completed and recorded.
· Projects Support: Help install and set up new equipment and support testing and commissioning.
· Training Support: Help guide operators on basic equipment care and promote good maintenance practices.
· Administration: Record maintenance work and update reports.
Key Requirements
- Grade 12 or qualification in mechanical fitting will be an advantage
- 3 years’ experience in maintenance in a food manufacturing environment.
- Basic mechanical/electrical knowledge
- Good problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a team
- Attention to detail and safety
