MACHINE MINDER (CPT) – BRANDING DEPARTMENT

Job Advert Summary

We are looking for a Machine minder within our Branding department (Manufacturing). The individual would be responsible for and engaged in all sewing operations that involve the assembly of such articles by means of sewing together, as well as all other sewing machine operations. In essence the machine minder is not setting up the computerised settings and is not utilising the full functions of the sewing operations, but is utilising the already computerised machine sewing operations (minding the machine).

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 10-12, with grade 12 preferable / equivalent skill level
• Previous experience in a similar role or with cutting skills as listed below is important
• Must be able to count (stock take & count and label cut parts).
• Able to carry material rolls or boxes where required.
• Reading/writing arithmetic skills.
• Ability to use a marker pen.
• Must be able to measure specified length of material.
• Willingness to abide by processes and rules.
• Maintain quality standards.
• Ability to work well independently and within a team.
• Observe and adhere to all safety rules
• Wear the required protective clothing required within the area.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Runner for Machinist: An employee engaged in feeding and collecting work and/or providing sundry material requirements to operators
• Sewing Machinist Class 1: An employee engaged in all sewing operations that involve the assembly of such articles by means of sewing together, as well as all other sewing machine operations, including harness stitching and computerised controlled sewing operations.
• Silk Screen Printer: An employee engaged in screen setting up, registration and imprinting a design or logo on to a component using a squeegee to penetrate the printing ink through the screen.
• Hand Stitcher: An employee engaged in stitching component parts together by hand to form a seam using needles and/or a bradawl
