PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This role is responsible for utilising route optimisation and planning software to plan and optimise daily route schedules with the objective of reducing overall distribution related costs and provide businesses with visibility across multiple verticals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhering and ensuring that plans submitted by planning departments are on time.
  • Communicating with dispatch teams on loading, changes and timings of Transport generated plan.
  • Collating feedback and documenting any non-compliance from Planning and Dispatch e.g. timings.
  • Escalation of non-compliance to Senior Planning Manager.
  • Assisting with solutions to key contacts, Planning, Dispatch, Drivers & Service Providers.
  • Awareness and urgency regarding unplanned orders, emergencies & deviations.
  • Receive orders from Planners, check feasibility and determine best execution solution.
  • Manage planning process taking the required items into consideration, supplier allocation, combination orders.
  • Procurement of 3PL transporters in line with set Group Targets.
  • Management of transporter In/Out Off-season cost alignment with logistics procurement.
  • Verify loading plans and submit to relevant Dispatch and Stakeholders.
  • Check orders on planner’s schedules and reconcile to system managing any conflicts between production and dispatch plans on a daily basis.
  • Execute required changes to plan ensuring compliance to change request.
  • Provide feedback to transporters, senior planner, dispatch regarding customer delivery requirements, i.e. emergency orders, cancellations and changes to transport plan.
  • Compile reports on key indicators and distribute to relevant stakeholders.
  • Complete daily dashboard and isolate un-economical shipments for review.
  • Check scheduled routes within the route optimisation tool and ensure that any inefficiencies are resolved.
  • Facilitate daily planning meetings with the Agriculture team to ensure feedback alignment and operational continuity.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • National Diploma in Logistics/ Transportation or Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or related field at NQF Level 6.
  • Working Knowledge of Logistics Management Principles.
  • Proficient In Microsoft Office, With Aptitude to Learn New Software and Systems.
