Locum Registered Nurse
Mitchell’s Plain Transitional Care Facility (MPTCF) – Managed by Aquarius Health Care NPC/NPO
Mitchell’s Plain Intermediate Care Facility is situated on the Lentegeur Psychiatric Hospital premises in Lentegeur, Mitchell’s Plain. The facility has 148 beds, responsible for the rehabilitation of patients, wound care, palliative and convalescent care.
AHC is inviting you to apply for a locum vacant position which will be on a locum contract, and only renewable depending on continued funding from the Department of Health.
Job Purpose:
- To ensure good quality cost effective nursing care in a rehabilitative, and palliative care context (Intermediate Care), also including the following:
- Assessment of patient needs, development, implementation and evaluation of holistic and comprehensive nursing care plans, and the documentation of all aspects of the patient care process.
- Holistic cost-effective Nursing Care service to patients and families within a multidisciplinary health care team context
- Management of the ward and supervision of staff
- Education to staff, students, patients and families
- Contribute towards a support service
Key Requirements:
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
- 3 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Development and implementation of nursing care plans
- Issuing of prescribed Medication
- Assess patient’s capabilities with respect to Nursing Care required
- Assess ward staff capabilities to deliver a Holistic Nursing Care Service
- Develop critical analysing skills to assess both patients and staff
- Work as a member of a team and contribute positively to the team
- Supervise ward activities
Administrative
- Follow departmental policies and procedures
- Orientation and induction of new and rotating nursing staff
- Demonstrate procedures when required
- Accurate, comprehensive and effective documentation and records
Training
- Orientation and induction of new staff to the ward
- Provide on the spot teaching
- Demonstrate procedures when required
- Attend in service training sessions
- Give in-service training sessions
Additional Tasks
- In addition to the above tasks, the official has to perform any other task (s) not mentioned above as long as it is within his/her capabilities and scope of work.
